Paul Calver –
This woodburner is exceptional. I’ve now used it through 2 winters and it is difficult to find any fault with it. It is worth noting that the burner was installed with the optimum flue size and room sealed. Interestingly the installers warned me that they are difficult to light. We have found the opposite. It lights brilliantly. Whether that is because the room seal kit and flue provide really good consistent draft or that we use only well seasoned dry wood with the recommended moisture content I can’t say, but within 2 minutes we can usually close the door and just let it do its thing with getting up to temperature. It is clear when it does because all soot and creosote produced in the cooler lighting phase is burnt off, further increasing the temperature inside. The single control is very easy to use and effective. The amount of heat produced from a single log is little short of astonishing. A single log can last between 30-45 minutes and combustion is so complete the amount of ash produced is tiny. On average, we only had to empty or reduce the ash to a lower level after about 100 hours of burning. I say reduce because we found it burnt better on a bed of ash in the bottom.
When used according to instructions the glass stays pretty clear until it is in its cooling phase when some very fine ash can accumulate on the glass. We got into the habit of giving the glass a quick wipe with slightly damp kitchen roll before lighting, which has worked a treat. We really enjoy watching the fireball effect. When we had the flue swept there was virtually no soot.
I would have no hesitation recommending this woodburner. The only caveats are; make sure it is properly installed, ideally with a room seal kit, use only well seasoned good quality wood and use it according to the instructions.
